To ensure a smooth changeover, she will transition into her new role over the final two months of current president and CEO Amir Dan Rubin's tenure.

Byerwalter, who earned a bachelor's degree from Stanford and an MBA from Harvard, has served on the SHC board of directors for more than 15 years, including eight as chair.

She has a long history of service and commitment to the Stanford community.

She serves on the Lucile Packard Children's Hospital Stanford board of directors and chairs the Stanford Medicine Advisory Council. From 1992 through 2012, she served three terms on the Stanford University board of trustees, chairing the Trustee Committee on the Medical Center.
