The Value of Thurman Munson Memorabilia, Autographs & Signed Baseballs

Often times the value of memorabilia has more to do with the rarity of the items then the actual player itself, while the quality of the player’s career is taken into consideration there is more value associated with things that are hard to find or items that cannot be replicated.

Memorabilia from former New York Yankees catcher certainly fits the description of being rare but also being a player who was good enough to warrant such interest from collectors.

Munson played his entire 11-year career with the Yankees and is the only Yankee to win the Rookie of the Year award and the MVP award.

He was a seven-time All-Star, three-time Gold Glove winner and won two World Series championships with the team. What makes Munson’s memorabilia so rare and valuable though is the fact that he died unexpectedly, at the age of 32, in 1979 while practicing takeoff and landing techniques in an airplane he owned.
